By becoming a Short Stays Australia member, Booking, and staying with us, you are consenting to our use of your personal information as disclosed in this Statement. This Statement has been made available to you prior to creating a Membership to enable you to give informed consent. If you do not consent to this Privacy and Disclosure Statement, then you are not permitted to create an Account and use our Services.
Why do we use the Good to Book platform?
Short Stays Australia use the Good to Book platform as a risk management tool to ensure our Hosts are aware of any registered ‘Rogue Guests’ seeking accommodation. If we can reduce the number of ‘Rogue Guests’ using our platform, we can offer a better experience to our Hosts and Guests.
Who is Good to Book?
Good to Book are a Membership based on-line, searchable database with services based in Australia but providing services around the globe. Good to Book provides a platform for accommodation providers to upload data about ‘Rogue Guests’ and to search potential or Booked Guests by name to see if they have had a ‘Rogue Guest’ listing on the Good to Book database within the last 3 years. The Good to Book database also sends alerts to local registered accommodation providers if a ‘Rogue Guest’ has stayed near their local area.
What is a ‘Rogue Guest’?
By ‘Rogue Guest’ we mean a Guest that has caused damage to the accommodation property, caused excessive cleaning requirements, been violent, exhibited behaviour that required the police to become involved or otherwise treated the property, Guests, Owners, or staff in a manner unacceptable to industry Standards.
What do you consent to?
By Booking or staying at an accommodation listed on the Stort Stays Australia platform, you agree to the voluntary collection and storage by us of your personal information and the personal information of any Guests staying with you as set out in our Privacy Policy (insert link).
By becoming a member and making the Booking you are telling Short Stays Australia you have the consent of your Guests for us to collect and use their personal information as well. You should provide a copy of this statement to any person you are Booking on behalf of.
You consent to Short Stays Australia’s use of your personal information and that of any Guests staying with you to search the Good to Book database to make sure there are no Rogue records matching a Guests details.
You consent to Short Stays Australia uploading your personal information and that of any Guests staying with you, too Good to Book via their platform, if we form the view that you are a ‘Rogue Guest’ during your stay by means that you or one of your Guests have caused damage to the accommodation property, caused excessive cleaning requirements, been violent, exhibited behavior that required the police to become involved or otherwise treated the property, Guests, Owners, or staff in a manner unacceptable to industry Standards. Please note we have obligations with Good to Book to be honest and fair when uploading information or using the Good to Book platform and we take these obligations seriously. Good to Book will then store and use that information for their own business purposes in accordance with their own Privacy Policy.
What information can Short Stays Australia upload to the Good to Book database?
The information we will upload includes your full name, any other name you have used, the names of any persons travelling with you, an image of the government issued identification you provided when signing up to the Short Stays Australia platform, security footage or other recorded footage which identifies you (if any), your Guests, your car registration number/state of registration and further information around your stay. Short Stays Australia will also hold this information in our own records together with any supporting evidence we have. Short Stays Australia have no obligation to let you know we have uploaded yours or your Guests information and any information we upload to the Good to Book database is confidential. You will not have the right to see the information we upload.
You consent to your personal information being transferred across Country borders. For example, if you are a New Zealand resident, you consent to both us and Good to Book transferring your information outside of New Zealand. Depending on which Country you are in, your personal information may be transferred to a Country that does not have the same or as high a level of protections available under local laws, as are available under the privacy laws in your Country.
If you are listed as a ‘Rogue Guest, what is the consequence to you?
Your details will be entered into the Good to Book database and any other accommodation providers who are members of Good to Book can search your details and receive alerts about your conduct and decide if they wish to enter an accommodation Contract with you in the future.
If your name shows up as a ‘Rogue Guest’, your Host or Co-Host has the right to and may refuse your Booking or they may impose additional conditions on your Booking (for example, a higher-than-normal Security Bond). If your Host or Co-Host has opted to decline your Booking or Booking Request all moneys paid via the Short Stays Australia platform will be refunded.
Access to the Good to Book database is also made available to local Law Authorities, although this is not the core purpose of the database.
How long will my personal information be used by Good to Book?
Your information will remain in the Good to Book database for 3 years from the date your information was last uploaded to the platform. You can contact Good to Book directly if you have questions about their platform or your record on their database via admin@goodtobook.com.
