Vetting your guests

The Holiday and Short Stay industry has quickly evolved within Australia and New Zealand as homeowners adopt an open mind and flexibility when listing their property for a little extra income. While guests generally respect house rules, there are occasional horror stories that result in unexpected expenses and anxiety for hosts. Alongside our Good to Book screening, we aim to emphasize the importance of safeguarding yourself and your property through a thorough and efficient vetting process to save time and money in the future.

Guest vetting guide

Initially, this process might appear time-consuming, but after going through it a few times or creating a template for copying and pasting, the process will become smooth. Here are some tips to assist you:

  1. Set your Host profile to REQUEST BOOKING to allow time for a quick review

  2. Review the feedback from your guests. As a new booking platform, there may be guests without reviews initially, but this will only be temporary

  3. Engage in an open conversation with your potential guest, consider using a template message similar to the following:

“Hello, thank you for your booking request. Before confirming your booking, I have a few standard questions I like to cover. What is the reason for your visit to ‘the sunny coast’? Additionally, have you had a chance to go over the house rules and do you have any questions about them? I’ve included a copy for your convenience. I look forward to hearing from you soon.”

Short Stays is confident that our collaborative vetting process will attract reliable and well-meaning guests. If you have any queries about vetting your guests, feel free to reach out to us.
