The SWAP booking process

 

Step 1 – Get searching

Browse Short Stays for potential swaps. We have new listings Australia and New Zealand wide everyday so if there are no suitable swaps to begin with, be sure to check in every few days.

 

Step 2 – Get in touch

If your swap conditions are pretty flexible, don’t be afraid to reach out to multiple hosts and see what adventures roll your way! You can either request a swap straight up and chat after or contact the host via the listing to chat first. Once they reply, you’ll receive an email linking you back to your Short Stays inbox.

 

Step 3 – Communication

Communication is key when you’re trying to work through the finer details. Be open, honest and prompt with your responses. If you’re not sure where to start, be sure to check back through your Swap Resources for guidance. Thinks dates, vehicles, pets… and don’t be afraid to ask your swap host for the area ins and outs, must see destinations and must do activities. This will have you sightseeing like a local!

 

Step 4 – Book your Swaps

After finding a suitable match, both hosts should click REQUEST BOOKING on each other’s listing and then ACCEPT each other’s booking request. This process will block the dates on your calendars and trigger BOOKING CONFIRMATION emails.

 

Rescheduling a swap booking:

If you need to change the date of your home swap booking:

  1. Go to MY BOOKINGS

  2. Find the booking you want to reschedule

  3. Select RESCHEDULE BOOKING

  4. Modify your dates and confirm by clicking REQUEST BOOKING

  5. For simultaneous swaps both hosts will need to complete the above steps to ensure booking calendars are updated

  6. Next, await your swap host to do the same, then continue to BOOKED STAYS and ACCEPT the reschedule request.

Please note: Hosts have 24 hours to accept or decline a reschedule request. If there is no response or if the request is declined, the original booking will remain confirmed.

 

Cancelling a swap booking:

Either host has the option to cancel a swap booking anytime. To do this navigate to MY BOOKINGS, select the swap booking you want to cancel and click CANCEL BOOKING. Communication is a must so be sure to reach out to your swap host before you cancel so they aren’t caught off guard. Things pop up from time to time and that’s okay – re booking is easy!
