All about “Good to Book” for guests

Who is Good to Book?

Good to Book is a membership-based online searchable database service headquartered in Australia but catering to a global audience. The platform allows accommodation providers like us, to upload information about ‘Rogue Guests’ and search for potential or booked guests by name to check for any ‘Rogue Guest’ alerts within the past 3 years.

Additionally, Good to Book sends notifications to our Short Stays team if a ‘Rogue Guest’ attempts to book accommodation on any other member’s platform.

Why do we use Good to Book?

Short Stays is a member of the Good to Book platform, which serves as a risk management tool to keep hosts updated on any registered ‘Rogue Guests’ seeking accommodation. All platform users are verified through the Good to Book database, and guests are rechecked upon confirming an accommodation booking. By reducing the number of ‘Rogue Guests’ on our platform, we create a trusting community and improve the experience for both hosts and guests.

Who is a ‘Rogue Guest’?

A ‘Rogue Guest’ refers to a guest who has caused damage to the property, necessitated excessive cleaning, displayed violent behavior, required police intervention, or treated the property, guests, owners, or staff in a manner that does not meet industry standards.

If a guest is found to be listed as a ‘Rogue Guest’, hosts have the right to decline a booking or set additional terms (such as a higher Security Deposit). In the event that a booking or booking request is declined or canceled by the host, any payments made through the Short Stays platform will be refunded to the guest.

What information can Short Stays upload to the Good to Book database?

If hosts identify a ‘Rogue Guest’ with us prior to, during, or after an accommodation booking, we will quickly reach out to collect information and any evidence (if necessary) regarding the guest(s) in question.

If the reported incident aligns with the Good to Book reporting guidelines, Short Stays will send a report too Good to Book for assessment and action. The provided information will include the Guest’s full name, any aliases, the names of accompanying individuals, relevant security or recorded footage identifying them (if available), their vehicle registration number and state, and other pertinent stay details. Short Stays will retain this data in our records along with any supporting proof for 3 years.

Guests will not be informed of the information uploaded, and any data shared with the Good to Book database remains confidential. The host/accommodation providers’ information will not be stored in the Good to Book database; only the incident dates will be logged. Moreover, guests do not have the right to access the uploaded information.

Please note that we are committed to maintaining honesty and fairness when uploading information or utilizing the Good to Book platform, and we treat these responsibilities with utmost importance. Good to Book will securely store and utilize this information for their business needs as outlined in their Privacy Policy.

What are the consequences and how long will Good to Book store guest information?

Guests who display behavior not in line with industry standards will be logged in the Good to Book database for 3 years from the upload date. Accommodation providers affiliated with Good to Book can search for guest names and might receive notifications about any misconduct.
